Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services
Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) are incorporated Aboriginal organisations, initiated by and based in local Aboriginal communities. These services are funded and supported to provide comprehensive primary health care. Some are large multi-functional services which employ several medical practitioners and provide a wide range of Allied Health Services. Others are small services which employ visiting medical practitioners and rely on Aboriginal Health Workers and nurses. The Closing the Gap teams work in partnership with ACCHOs to ensure Aboriginal Communities are able to access program support services.
