Aboriginal-led program preventing suicides in rural South Australia

We’re proud to share SBS Australia’s story on our work to establish Australia’s first indigenous suicide after-care service delivered by ACCHO.

Nukunu elder Kym Thomas and Pika Wiya suicide prevention support worker Rick Dadleh discuss the program’s success, providing support after a suicide attempt to the local indigenous community.

Our Mental Health & AOD manager Chez Curnow says the National Suicide Prevention Trial has highlighted the most effective suicide prevention strategies at a local level and in at-risk populations. We hope it informs future policy and decision making at a national level.
